![]() ![]() So much content exists in this game that goes unused because it offers NOTHING for the players. ![]() I tried hard to think that all these new MTX things would improve the game, but instead we get half-baked updates that are often outdated a week after they are introduced. 70% of that money goes to TWO PEOPLE in the Carlyle group, the investors behind the game, while the rest of it gives paychecks to the devs and game development funds. Our sub money, our treasure hunter key money, our battlepass money aren't going to making this game better. But for some reason, they REALLY hate adding more to the map, opting into making instanced zones disconnected from the world instead, just adding more and more into the cramped feeling of the game with no discernible inter-connectivity. The logical thing would be that, over the years, they would increase the landmass of the game to accommodate new features like this. All of these things are just inches from each other. Just to the north of it is a cave leading to a boss, a cave leading to an workshop, a bunch of dwarves and a cannon, a dwarven blacksmith shop, and a weird rapunzel tower. I run into the lumbridge swamp to see some weird obelisk with various things to interact with, I'm not even sure what they do and just over there it's a giant outpost with portals, not to mention the crater spilling out divine wisps. The Game world is quickly becoming even more and more dense with things. The game is in serious need of renovation in many areas. This MMO that constantly wants you to buy Treasure Hunter keys, makes you PAY for a subscription for 13 dollars a month to get access to 99% of the game also wants you to buy their new battlepass. They're re-adding it after severe backlash but the original intent of removing this was to bake it in to their brand spankin' new BATTLEPASS system. They were small skilling things like "Make X amount of this Potion." and you'd get a sizeable amount of exp and even a treasure hunter key from it. This loot-box style fomo-addled system gets more and more egregious by the day. Their NEWS UPDATES have a dedicated section to Treasure Hunter, often taking up most of the updates. Want to earn the rewards from it? Better shell out the money for keys because you aren't going to get ♥♥♥♥ otherwise. But let me introduce you to Treasure Hunter promotion #541. ![]() Player Avatars not looking like some kindergardener's first Blender project? Shelved. Construction skill rework to make the skill actually useful? Shelved. We'll finally hear "We've decided to shelf this update." Diversify weapons to have unique effects? Shelved. They gain a lot of hype and traction, but suddenly, no word. One of the most anticipated updates for me was reworking the player avatars to not look like total garbage. Treasure Hunter becomes more and more the focus of updates, there's non-stop promos for Treasure Hunter running without end. Writing was on the wall for years though. Over my 20 years of playing, I'd come back and play it on and off. Alternatively, a display name can also be set on the RuneScape website and under Account Settings.I've always loved this game. After the bond has been redeemed, the player can change their display name in the Option menu within the Chat sub-menu. Members can use bonds for name changes as well.
